Who We Are
The People's Anti-Cruelty Association (PACA) was founded in 1973 as a non-profit, no-kill animal
rescue organization. It was created to provide a safe haven for homeless dogs until a permanent
home was found. PACA is the oldest No-Kill animal rescue organization in the state of New Mexico.
Albuquerque Animal Rescue (AAR) was created in 1992 as the community outreach division of the
organization and added the rescue of cats to the venue. AAR focuses on the adoption phase of the
animal rescue work.
PACA/AAR relies on foster care to provide a safe, home type environment until a permanent home is
found.

ABOUT Kitty City:
PACA/AAR invites the public to partake in some relaxation therapy by stopping by Kitty City, New
Mexico's first cageless cat adoption center, located at Clark's Pet Store, 11200 Menaul NE, to meet
our available feline therapists. You just might find that life-long feline friend who's been
waiting just for you. We generally have around a dozen cats and kittens lounging, romping and just
looking adorable. Kitty City may be visited at any time during Clarks regular business hours.
Adopting a friend
Prospective pet-parents are asked to fill out an adoption questionnaire and are interviewed to
ensure a good match. Adoption fees are $85 for cats and $100 for dogs (cash or personal check, sorry but we aren't set up to accept credit cards). All animals PACA/AAR offers
for adoption have been spayed or neutered with shots current to the animal's age. Our adult cats are
tested for feline leukemia and FIV. All of the dogs and cats have been microchipped.
With every adoption, we offer one month of free pet insurance for your new
dog or cat.
If you would like to adopt an animal from PACA please call (505) 315 0004 or email us at
pacacats@aol.com or pacadogs@aol.com or stop by one of the adoption clinics.
Volunteering
We are in great need of foster parents and volunteers. Fostering can be done with no
long-term commitment, and it is a very rewarding experience. An animal stays at your home as long
as you like, and you can return it at any time. On any Saturday, you can bring it to our adoption
clinic. Fostering allows the animal to remain adapted to a home environment, and this makes the
adjustment to a new home easier when they are adopted. Fostering is an easy and fun way to spend
time with a cat or dog!
If you would like to foster an animal or volunteer, please call or e-mail or stop by one of our
adoption clinics. You can also download a Volunteer
Application and bring it to us at one of our adoption clinics.
